Film producer Firoz Nadiadwala, best known for the iconic 'Hera Pheri,' has successfully reclaimed the rights to his film portfolio after reaching a settlement with Eros. Reports indicate that Nadiadwala has settled his financial obligations with Eros, allowing him to regain the rights to several films, including the highly anticipated 'Hera Pheri,' which stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in lead roles. The film follows the misadventures of three men who find themselves in a series of hilarious situations while trying to get rich quickly.
Firoz is recognised for producing numerous hits like 'Awara Paagal Deewana,' 'Phir Hera Pheri,' 'Welcome,' and 'Aan,' many of which have achieved cult status, prompting audience requests for sequels. Recently, Nadiadwala responded to this demand by reuniting with Akshay Kumar for the 'Welcome' franchise, with the upcoming film titled 'Welcome to The Jungle,' which began production earlier this year.
According to IANS, "Firoz has cleared his dues and obtained a No Due Certificate from the court, allowing him to reclaim the rights to ‘Hera Pheri’ and other films. He is now free to proceed with these projects at his discretion and is eager to return to entertain the audience."
"Hera Pheri 3 is a passion project not only for Firoz but also for the original trio—Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty. They’re all thrilled that the focus can now shift to the creative aspects and logistics required to bring the film to life," it added. Furthermore, it's reported that Firoz Nadiadwala will meet with the Hera Pheri team in the coming weeks to discuss plans for the third installment.
About Hera Pheri
The plot revolves around Raju (Akshay Kumar), Shyam (Suniel Shetty), and Baburao (Paresh Rawal), who inadvertently become involved in a kidnapping scheme that spirals out of control. Their comedic antics and the film's memorable dialogue have contributed to its status as a cult classic. Hera Pheri was well-received by audiences and critics alike, leading to a sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, released in 2006, which continued the story of the three main characters. The film's enduring popularity has sparked ongoing interest in further sequels and adaptations.
