Popular Kannada director, Santhosh Ananddram, who directed blockbuster movies like Raajakumara and Yuvarathnaa, had plans to work on another project with Puneeth Rajkumar, but due to the actor's busy schedule, the director chose to work on a small project in the meantime. He partnered with immensely talented actor Jaagesh to make a film that aligned with the actor's strengths - a comedy movie that also conveyed a relevant message for society.

The film Raghavendra Stores, starring Jaggesh and Shwetha Srivatsav, had its first look released on the eve of the theatrical release of KGF: Chapter 2. Initially, it was scheduled to be released in theatres on August 5, but was postponed later without any new date announced.

There were speculations that the production banner, Hombale Films, might release the film directly on an OTT platform. Netizens had been curious about the release date, but there were no responses from the banner or the director for a long time.

However, now it was announced that Raghavendra Stores would indeed have a theatrical release. The film will now hit theatres on April 28, just days before the elections in Karnataka.

About Raghavendra Stores

Jaggesh in the movie Raghavendra Stores, plays a 40-year-old eligible bachelor who works as a cook at darshini, and is unable to find a suitable partner partner for himself The movie sheds light on the issues of late marriages and the fact that cooking is still not a respected job in our society. The movie, according to the makers, will feature a social message and Jaggesh's signature style comedy in abundance.

Talking about the film's social message, Santhosh Ananddram told The Hindu, "The film is about late marriages. While there is naughtiness, be it in the dialogues or scenes, people won’t complain of vulgarity while watching Raghavendra Stores. You won’t see the adult humour usually associated with Jaggesh’s films because we have dealt with a sensitive topic. The hero, Hayavadana, and the heroine, Vyjayanthi, hail from orthodox Hindu families. She is an Iyengar, and the hero is from the Brahmin community. We have tried to showcase the concept of marriage and other topics as seen by these families. There is tongue-in-cheek humour, but nothing in the film will make you uncomfortable.

Jaggesh is teaming up with Hombale Films and director Santhosh for the first time. The movie, which will release this week, will compete with Raaghu, starring Vijay Raghavendra, and Agent, starring Akhil Akkineni, at the box office.
