Some were cult films which were brought back to the screen after huge public demand, while others got their deserved response after re-release. These movies have left a huge impact at the Indian box office and generated good revenue. Tumbbad (Prime Video)
The movie is about Vinayak Rao, who is in search of hidden treasure in a village named Tumbbad, Maharashtra. The film stars Sohum Shah, Jyoti Malshe, Dhundiraj Prabhakar, Ronjini Chakraborty and Mohammad Samad in key roles. Tumbbad was initially released in theatres in 2018 and had a box-office collection of Rs 15.46 crore. The movie was re-released on September 13, 2024 and collected Rs 31.35 crore in India.
Ghilli (Aha video)
The Tamil movie is about an aspiring Kabaddi player, who visits Madurai to participate in a general match. He rescues a girl, whom a powerful man was keen on marrying against will. The movie stars Thalapathy Vijay, Prakash Raj, Trisha Krishnan, Ashish Vidyarthi and Dhamu in key roles. Ghilli was initially released in theatres in 2004 and collected Rs 50 crore. Ghilli re-released in theatres on April 20, 2024 and grossed Rs 26 to 32.50 crore worldwide.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Netflix)
The film is about a gang of college friends, who went on a trek trip. Their vacation gave them lifetime-long memories and shaped their relationships in different ways. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kunaal Roy Kapur in key roles. The film was initially released in theatres in 2013 and had a box office collection of Rs 188.57 crore. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was re-released on January 3, 2025 and had grossed Rs 26.25 crore to 26.75 crore worldwide.
Sanam Teri Kasam (JioHotstar)
The movie is about a girl, who comes from an orthodox family. Her life changed drastically after a misunderstanding occurred with her following which she was thrown out of her family. A young man, who was her neighbour, then helped her in every path of her life. Before her death, she gets married to him. The film features Harshvardhan Rane, Mawra Hocane, Manish Chaudhari, Anurag Sinha and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. Sanam Teri Kasam initially released in 2016 and collected Rs 9 crore. Whereas, it collected double when released on February 7, 2025. The movie then had a box office collection of Rs 22.09 crore, as per reports.
Sholay (Prime Video)
The movie is about a man, whose family has been murdered by a ruthless bandit. A former police officer enlists the services of two outlaws to capture the bandit. Sholay stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Bachchan, Mac Mohan and Satyen Kappu in significant roles. The film was released in theatres in 1975 and collected Rs 15 crore. Sholay re-release on August 31, 2024 and grossed Rs 13 crore worldwide.
