Manjummel Boys (Disney+Hotstar)
The survival thriller directed and written by Chidambaram, is inspired by a true incident from 2006. The cast features Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, and Shebin Benson. The story revolves around a group of friends from Manjummel in Kochi who embark on a vacation to Kodaikanal, where their trip takes a dramatic turn when one of them becomes trapped in the Guna Caves.
The film made history as the first in the Malayalam film industry to surpass ₹200 crore at the box office, setting multiple records and becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film, surpassing 2018. It also ranked among the top-grossing Indian films of 2024.
Thalavan (Sony LIV)
The crime thriller directed by Jis Joy and produced by Arun Narayan and Sijo Sebastian, stars Biju Menon, Asif Ali, Miya George, Anusree, Dileesh Pothan, and Kottayam Nazeer in prominent roles. The story follows retired DSP Udayabhanu, who hosts a TV program where he recounts an incident from five years ago. Thalavan revolves around an investigation at a local police station, highlighting the internal hierarchies that create conflicts within the force.
Kuttavum Shikshayum (Netflix)
The crime drama directed by Rajeev Ravi and produced by Arun Kumar V. R. under Film Roll Productions, features a cast including Asif Ali, Sunny Wayne, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sharaf U Dheen, and Senthil Krishna. The plot centers on a mysterious robbery in Kerala, where CI Sajan Philip leads the investigation into a jewelry store break-in. The thieves managed to cut open the safe and make off with gold, but there are no CCTV recordings to provide leads, as the shop’s cameras had been malfunctioning. Sajan assembles a team comprising SI Basheer, CPOs Rajesh Mathew, Abin Raj, and SI Rajeevan to delve into the case. Their initial focus turns to a former employee, Aravindan, who had been fired for theft and is suspected by the owner's son.
Falimy (Hotstar)
The comedy-drama film, marking the directorial debut of Nithish Sahadev, who also wrote the script. The film stars Basil Joseph, Jagadish, and Manju Pillai, and it explores the journey of a dysfunctional middle-class family traveling to Varanasi, highlighting the insights they gain along the way. The soundtrack was composed by Vishnu Vijay, with cinematography and editing handled by Bablu Aju and Nidhin Raj Arol, respectively. Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum (Amazon Prime Video)
The adventure-comedy-drama directed by Akhil Sathyan, featuring Fahadh Faasil in the lead role. Pachu, an Ayurveda pharmacist in Mumbai, returns to Kochi for a wedding, where he meets Achu. The survival thriller directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, focusing on the devastating 2018 Kerala floods. Co-written with Akhil P. Dharmajan, the film is produced by Venu Kunnappilly, C.K. Padmakumar, and Anto Joseph under Kavya Film Company in collaboration with P.K. Prime Production. The cast includes Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Narain, and Lal, along with a strong supporting ensemble. The crime thriller directed by Roby Varghese Raj in his directorial debut, featuring a screenplay by Muhammed Shafi and Rony David Raj. The film stars Mammootty alongside Azees Nedumangad, Rony David Raj, Shabareesh Varma, and includes supporting performances from Kishore and Vijayaraghavan. The story is based on the real-life Kannur Squad, a crime investigation unit established by former Kannur SP S. Sreejith IPS.
Drishyam 2 (Amazon Prime Video)
