Ranbir Kapoor announces Raj Kapoor Film Festival: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor made a significant announcement on Sunday, revealing that a nationwide film festival will be organised to showcase restored versions of his grandfather, the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor's, iconic movies. This special tribute is being planned to commemorate Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary, which falls on December 14. To kick-start the celebrations, Ranbir Kapoor engaged in a conversation with renowned filmmaker Rahul Rawail at the prestigious 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where they paid homage to Raj Kapoor's enduring legacy in Indian cinema.

According to Latestly, Ranbir Kapoor said, “We are going to organise the Raj Kapoor Film Festival from December 13-December 15 all over India. We will show the restored version of 10 of Raj Kapoor's films.”

“I hope you guys come as well (to watch the film festival). I remember the first time I met Alia, she asked me 'Who's Kishore Kumar?' It's just a circle of life, people are forgotten. It's important we remember our roots,” he further explained.

Ranbir said, “I talk to a lot of people, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, about how to make a biopic on Mr Raj Kapoor. A biopic is not just something which highlights the success in a person's life, you truly have to portray someone's life honestly, the lows, struggles, relationship dynamics. "It's a very tough biopic to make. I don't know if my family would also agree for most of the things, to show this side of Raj Kapoor. But I think it would really make a great movie.”

Ranbir Kapoor is eagerly looking forward to reuniting with acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in their upcoming project, Love & War. This collaboration holds a special significance for Ranbir, as Bhansali had given him his first break in Bollywood with the 2007 film Saawariya. Expressing his enthusiasm for working with Bhansali again, Ranbir stated that despite the passage of 17 years, his respect and admiration for the director remain unwavering. He praised Bhansali's unwavering dedication to his craft, noting that the director's passion for filmmaking remains unchanged.

On a personal note, Ranbir shared a heartwarming anecdote about introducing his two-year-old daughter, Raha, to the music of his grandfather, Raj Kapoor. Revealing that the first Raj Kapoor song he played for Raha was the timeless classic Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisaar from the 1959 film Anari, Ranbir's love for his family's cinematic legacy and his desire to share it with the next generation are palpable.
