Indian 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Kamal Haasan starrer has achieved the highest opening for a Tamil film in India this year, grossing over Rs 25 crore nett on its first day. Directed by Shankar, the sequel to the 1996 hit 'Indian' stars Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Senapathy, a vigilante with unique methods to combat corruption. The film started strong in Tamil and Telugu markets, while Hindi collections seems modest. Despite facing competition from Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira', the film earned exceptionally well at ticket windows.

Indian 2 Box Office Report

On its first day, Indian 2 grossed approximately Rs 26 crore net across all languages, according to early estimates. The film achieved an impressive 55.62% overall Tamil occupancy on Friday, July 12, 2024, with morning shows at 42.72%, afternoon shows at 47.98%, evening shows at 60.27%, and night shows at 71.52%. In key metropolitan areas like Mumbai and Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), the film garnered 36.50% and 32.75% occupancy, respectively, according to sacnilk.

Released on July 12, directed by Shankar, Indian 2 features a notable ensemble cast that includes Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Vennela Kishore, and Deepa Shankar, among other talented actors.

Indian 2 Budget

Reportedly, one of director Shankar's most ambitious projects with a budget of Rs 150 crore, this Tamil-language vigilante action film is co-written by B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar, the film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies.

About Indian 2

Initially announced with Sri Venkateswara Creations in September 2017, production later shifted to Lyca Productions. Principal photography commenced in January 2019 and wrapped up by March 2024, spanning intermittent shoots over five years. Featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Ravi Varman and R. Rathnavelu, editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, production design by T. Muthuraj, and visual effects supervised by V. Srinivas Mohan, the film showcases a high-profile technical and creative team.
