On Friday, the Delhi High Court ruled in favour of Priya Sachdeva Kapur, clarifying that sister of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, is not involved in the ongoing legal dispute surrounding her brother’s estate. The court removed her name from its official records, noting that she had been mistakenly shown as participating in the matter. This decision comes after Priya Kapur, Sunjay's widow, objected to Mandhira's alleged involvement, claiming she was trying to make a "backdoor entry" into the proceedings. The court's clarification effectively confirms Mandhira has no standing in the case.

In its order dated September 10, the Delhi High Court had inadvertently recorded the appearance of counsels on behalf of Mandhira Kapur. This error was later highlighted through an application filed by Priya Kapur, who pointed out that the mention of her sister-in-law’s name in the proceedings was “factually incorrect,” since Mandhira had never been impleaded as a party in the case.

Priya Kapur, in her complaint, emphasised that a review of the case history made it “apparent and clear” that Mandhira Kapur had not filed any application seeking to be added to the litigation. "Upon the careful perusal of the Case History of the captioned suit…it is apparent and clear that Ms. Mandhira Kapur has not filed any application to be impleaded as a party. Kapur called it a "mischievous attempt to mislead" the court and described it "an abuse of process of law" and a bid to create an “incorrect record."

About the case: The high-profile case is unfolding in the Delhi High Court over approximately Rs 3000 crore estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur. Sunjay Kapur's children from his marriage to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, filed a petition, seeking a share in their father's personal assets. According to their claims, Priya Kapur, Sunjay's last legally wedded wife, forged his will, dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly bequeaths his entire personal estate to her.
