Veteran actress-politician Jaya Bachchan has always been vocal about her views, whether it's about society or the film industry. Jaya, who had a stellar career after making her debut in 1963 with Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar, recently talked about Bollywood's recent releases. The actress revealed that she is not a fan of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar. She indirectly mocked the 2017 release and questioned its title, even calling it a flop movie. Although the Akshay starrer was a commercial success, in her opinion, she would never go to watch a film with such a name.

Jaya Bachchan recently appeared at the India TV Conclave, and with her statement, she again created a stir among netizens online. Sharing her views on the social drama movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, she said, "Just look at the title of the film; I would never go to watch a film with such a name. Yeh koi naam hai? Is that really a name?" Proving her point, Jaya then asked the audience if they would be okay watching a film with such a name. "Among so many people, hardly four want to watch the film; it’s very sad. Yeh toh flop hai."

After this, a debate sparked online, with netizens sharing their views on Jaya Bachchan's statement about Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. A user wrote, "Jaya Bachchan says nobody will watch movies with names like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padman. Collections: Toilet Ek Prem Katha - ₹216 crore, Padman - ₹191 crore. Much more than movies of Abhishek. By the way, Amitabh Bachchan made a movie, Piku, where all he talked about was toilets."
