Jonathan Majors, who has portrayed Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently shared his feelings about being replaced by Robert Downey Jr. as the new chief antagonist. This change comes in the wake of allegations and a subsequent conviction related to an incident with his former girlfriend. In an interview with TMZ, Majors expressed his disappointment, saying, "Yeah, heartbroken. Of course. I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though." Despite his sadness, he acknowledged the appeal of Downey's new character. When asked about the fairness of Downey getting another chance, especially considering his past legal troubles, Majors was supportive. "I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love, and being allowed to work his art and be creative at that level. I didn’t really get that," he remarked.

Majors also mentioned his love for Kang and his enthusiasm for potentially reprising his role. "Hell yeah! Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang. If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants then let’s roll. Hell yeah," he added.

In December 2023, Majors was found guilty of misdemeanour third-degree assault and second-degree harassment by a Manhattan jury. Although he avoided jail time, he was sentenced to participate in an intervention program. Following this, Marvel Studios decided to drop him from future MCU projects, including the next two Avengers films.

Robert Downey Jr., who famously played Iron Man and helped launch the MCU, is set to return to the franchise. However, he will not reprise his role as Iron Man. Instead, he will portray the villain Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, in the upcoming Avengers movies, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced this at the recent San Diego Comic-Con. The Russo Brothers, known for their work on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, will direct these films.
