Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of Animal and Kabir Singh, recently revealed an interesting detail about his blockbuster film. He shared that he initially considered bringing Kabir Singh into Animal for a cameo but later decided to drop the idea.
During an interview with Komal Nahta on Game Changers, Vanga was asked about the possibility of Ranbir Kapoor’s character being treated by Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh in a hospital scene. The filmmaker admitted that he had indeed thought about it.
While shooting in Delhi, the idea struck him and when he shared it with his crew, they encouraged him, believing it would enhance the film’s appeal and boost box office numbers. The concept was to feature Kabir Singh as one of the chief doctors overseeing Ranbir Kapoor’s treatment.

Despite the initial excitement, Vanga ultimately decided against the cameo. He explained, "I didn’t want the cameo to look desperate." He was convinced about including it for two days but later realized that it wouldn’t fit naturally into the film.
He pointed out that the scene involved a serious medical discussion about organ failures. Introducing a ‘filmy’ character like Kabir Singh in that moment would have made it feel lighter and less realistic. Vanga emphasized that he wanted the audience to feel like they were witnessing real events rather than a cinematic crossover.
When asked if he ever thought about casting Shahid Kapoor as the lead in Animal, the filmmaker said no. According to him, Ranbir Kapoor was always his first choice for the emotionally intense role. He felt the casting was an organic decision and that Ranbir would bring the right depth to the character.
