Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 2: Nag Ashwin's dystopian science-fiction epic made history on Thursday by registering the highest opening domestically. However, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone's starrer experienced a significant drop of almost 50%, while maintaining a strong hold. Released on June 27, in six languages -- Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English—the film also features Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Kalki 2898 AD became the third biggest opener with RRR leading, followed by Baahubali 2.
Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Report:
Kalki 2898 AD had an impressive start at the box office, earning an estimated Rs 95.3 crore net in India on its first day. On its second day, the film dropped drastically but continued its strong performance, grossing around Rs 54.00 crore net across all languages, bringing the total to Rs 149.3 crore. According to Sacnilk, the film had an overall 65.02% occupancy in Telugu theaters on Friday, June 28, 2024. The occupancy rates for the day were 48.55% for morning shows, 59.12% for afternoon shows, 69.46% for evening shows, and 82.95% for night shows. The box office collection is expected to pick up over the weekend.

The film is reportedly budgeted at Rs 600 crores, stands as one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.

Touted as a blend of the Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction, the big-budget film Kalki 2898 AD is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and directed by Nag Ashwin, known for his critically acclaimed 2018 period drama, Mahanati. Inspired by Hindu mythology, this first installment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD. The plot revolves around a select few on a mission to save the unborn child, Kalki, of SUM-80, a lab subject.
Prabhas and Deepika play the characters Bhairava and Sumati, while Amitabh portrays Ashwatthama. Kamal Haasan, as the main villain Yaskin, is expected to have a more extensive role in the film's sequel. It also stars Disha Patani.
