Kalki 2898 AD OTT Release Date: The much-awaited dystopian action Pan-India movie written and directed by Nag Ashwin, is finally released in theaters on June 27. The movie stars Prabhas in the lead role, with an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, and Brahmanandam. Produced by C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, the film was primarily shot in Telugu, with some scenes re-shot in Hindi. While Kalki 2898 AD has hit the theatres, fans are also excited about its OTT release. The makers are yet to announce the date of the digital premiere but two OTT platforms have reportedly already secured Kalki 2898 AD's digital rights.

Kalki 2898 AD OTT Release

Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD and inspired by Hindu scriptures. The science fiction film with a production budget of Rs 600 crore, has reportedly recouped more than half of its costs through digital streaming rights sales. According to Filmibeat, two major streaming platforms have acquired the film's OTT rights. Netflix secured the Hindi version for an impressive Rs 175 crore, while Prime Video purchased the rights for the southern languages for about Rs 200 crore.

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD has achieved impressive ticket sales across multiple languages and formats. In Telugu, the film has sold 265,035 tickets for 1,726 shows, grossing Rs 7.7 crore from 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D screenings. The Hindi version has seen 13,833 tickets sold for 1,738 shows, generating ₹43.6 lakh across the same formats. In Tamil, 2,925 tickets have been sold for 278 shows, bringing in Rs 5.12 lakh from 3D and 2D screenings. The Kannada version has sold 101 tickets for 32 shows, grossing ₹23,300, while the Malayalam version has sold just one ticket for a single show, grossing Rs 300. Both Kannada and Malayalam screenings are 2D only. Overall, the film has sold a total of 281,895 tickets for 3,775 shows across India, grossing Rs 8.22 crore.

About Kalki 2898 AD

Kalki 2898 AD is set in a futuristic, fictional city called Kashi. Prabhas stars as Bhairava, whose goal is to earn more units and move to the Complex. Meanwhile, Ashwattama is determined to protect SUM 80 and her child. The unfolding events and their consequences form the crux of the story.

Announced in February 2020, the production of Kalki 2898 AD encountered delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With a production budget of Rs 600 crore (US$72 million), it is said to be the most expensive Indian film to date. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by Djordje Stojiljkovic, production design by Nitin Zihani Choudhary, and editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
