Director Nag Ashwin has stirred up excitement with the release of a new trailer for his much-anticipated sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD. The film, which is set to hit theatres on June 27, boasts a star-studded cast, including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. The trailer has garnered enthusiastic responses from fans and celebrities alike, including filmmaker SS Rajamouli and actor Vijay Deverakonda.

SS Rajamouli, known for his blockbuster films, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his excitement. He praised the trailer for its powerful impact, saying, "Power-packed trailer it is... It sets the right mood and tone to watch the film FDFS. Amitabh ji, Darling (Prabhas), and Deepika’s characters seem to have a lot of depth and are truly intriguing. I am still stuck on Kamal sir’s look and how he amazes as always. Nagi... can’t wait to immerse into your world on the 27th! #KALKI2898AD."

Similarly, Vijay Deverakonda expressed his admiration for the trailer, writing, "This is Epiccccc. Next level. My mind is blown. #Kalki2898AD In Cinemas 27th June!"

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga also joined the chorus of praise, sharing the trailer on his X account and stating, "Superb trailer (clapping hand emojis). Saw it three times. This is definitely a very new world and a very new experience. FDFS (first day first show) pakka (for sure)."

The new trailer offers more insight into the film's intriguing plot. It reveals that Deepika Padukone’s character, Sumati, is carrying a child referred to as Kalki. In one scene, Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Ashwatthama, tells her, "God resides in your womb," setting the stage for a battle between his character and Prabhas' character, Bhairava, who is determined to protect Sumati and her baby.

Kamal Haasan’s character, Supreme Yaskin, delivers a thought-provoking line about the unchanging nature of humanity despite numerous opportunities for change. The trailer also showcases Kamal's look as a sage, adding to the mystique of his role. Additionally, Prabhas is seen in a futuristic robotic suit, gearing up to face formidable challenges.

At the film's pre-release event, Nag Ashwin provided further context about the world of Kalki 2898 AD. He explained that the story is set in a dystopian future where the world is divided into three distinct regions: Kasi, Complex and Shambala.

Kasi: A place where the river Ganga has dried up, and people are struggling to survive.
Complex: A megacity with ample resources, but it's a trap designed to exploit the people of Kasi by making them work for it.
Shambala: A mystical refuge for rebels and refugees fighting against the oppressive Complex.

Kalki 2898 AD arrives in theatres on June 27, 2024.
