Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are two of the biggest superstars in Tamil Cinema but they are equally worshipped in the Indian film industry as well. Both the stars appeared in several movies in the initial days of their career including Thillu MulluApoorva Raagangal, lamai Oonjal Aadukirathu, Ninaithale Inikkum, Aval Appadithan, I, and 16 Vayathinile. The last time the megastars collaborated was in a Hindi movie named Geraftaar in 1985. There were several questions raised as to why they never collaborated on any movies after getting stardom. Now, Kamal Haasan shared the reason why they never collaborated.

Kamal said “It’s not a new combination. We have done many films together. Then we decided not to work together. We are not like two competitors. We had the same mentor. Unlike any other place, the competition is there, openly. But there’s no envy and it’s two different paths. We also never make snide remarks about each other. We made this call when we were in our 20s; it’s not that we became older and wiser now.”

The megastar also reacted to the ongoing debate on star fees and rising entourage costs. He said, “Don’t pay these actors so much… If you don’t want them, find new actors. If you want a superstar, pay him. If you don’t want or can’t afford him, don’t. It’s as simple as that.”
