Actress Kangana Ranaut and filmmaker Hansal Mehta engaged in a debate on social media after their differing views on comedian Kunal Kamra's ongoing controversy. Amid Kamra row, many drew parallels to the 2020 demolition of Kangana’s Mumbai office by the BMC, including Hansal. The online spat between the actor and director stirred fresh controversy.

Kangana Ranaut and Hansal Mehta's Controversy

The clash began when Hansal Mehta voiced his support for Kunal Kamra. A social media user then asked him why he hadn’t shown similar support during the demolition of Kangana’s office in 2020. In response, Mehta wrote, "Was her house vandalized? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don’t know the facts."

Detailing her 2020 ordeal, Kangana responded to Mehta's comment by stating, "They called me names like hara*khor, threatened me, served a notice late at night to my watchman, and before the courts could open the next morning, bulldozers demolished the entire house. The High Court called the demolition completely illegal. They laughed at it and raised a toast to my pain and public humiliation."

Further taking a dig at the filmmaker, the Emergency actress added, “It seems your insecurity and mediocrity have not only made you bitter and stupid, but it has also blinded you. It’s not some third-class series or atrocious films that you make. Don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in matters related to my ordeals. Stay out of it."

Kangana’s controversy dates back to September 2020, when the BMC demolished parts of her office-cum-residential bungalow in Bandra, citing it as unauthorized construction. Later, the Bombay High Court ruled the demolition illegal and paused further action.

On March 25, Kangana slammed stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for his remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and questioned his credentials.

When asked about the 2020 demolition, Kangana was heard saying, "What happened to me was illegal. I will not connect these two incidents. What happened to me was illegal, but what is happening here is being done legally."
