Amid controversy around the Emergency, a report by Zapkey suggests that Kangana Ranaut has reportedly sold her Pali Hill bungalow in Mumbai for Rs 32 crore. As per reports, the actress-turned-politician purchased this property for Rs 20.7 crore in September 2017. Reportedly, she used this bungalow as an office for her production house Manikarnika Films. She also took a loan for the property of Rs 27 crore from ICICI Bank in December 2022. In August, there were several reports suggesting that Kangana had listed this property up for sale for Rs 40 crore.

Kangana’s team did not react to the sale issue but Simran Gupta from Code Estate agency told Times Of India that the bungalow was on the market for sale and attracted a lot of purchasers. The property was considered controversial as in 2020 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished the property. This happened after she criticised then Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and had a dispute with Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut about Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. At that time, BMC claimed that demolition occurred as there were ‘illegal alterations’. Later she was given Rs 2 crore which she declined.
On the work front, she will be next seen in Emergency. The political drama also features Vishak Nair, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade and Anupam Kher in key roles. The movie, which was initially scheduled to be released in theatres on September 6, faced several issues with certification and opposition from Sikh organisations. Recently a report by India Today suggested that the movie has got a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This came after the Board asked the makers to make certain changes in the movie and asked them to add disclaimers about the portrayal of the historical events and chopping off certain scenes. The new release date of Emergency has not been announced yet.
