Deepak Aras, a well-known Kannada filmmaker and the brother of former actress Amulya, has passed away at the age of 42. The director, best known for his work on Manasology and Sugar Factory, breathed his last on the evening of October 17, 2024, after battling health complications related to kidney failure. He received treatment at a private hospital in RR Nagar, Bangalore.
The tragic news has left the Kannada film industry in deep sorrow. According to a report from Cinema Express, Deepak had been facing health issues for several years. He is survived by his wife, two children and a large extended family. His body was taken to his residence in Vyalikaval before being transported to his native village, Nagamangala, where the final rites are scheduled for today.
Several members of the Sandalwood industry have gathered to pay their last respects, mourning the untimely loss of Deepak. His sister, actress Amulya, who starred in Manasology, was visibly emotional as she stood by her brother's side during the last rites.

Deepak Aras made a name for himself with his directorial debut Manasology in 2011, a romantic drama that told the story of a violin teacher named Sihi, played by Amulya, and her love story with Manas. His last film, Sugar Factory, was released in 2023, a romantic comedy that explored pub culture in Goa. The film starred Darling Krishna, Sonal Monteiro, Ruhani Shetty and others in lead roles.
Reports suggest that Deepak was in the early stages of planning a new project before his health took a turn for the worse. His sudden demise has left a void in the industry, with colleagues and fans alike expressing their heartfelt condolences for the filmmaker and his family.
