Rishab Shetty has established himself as one of the most versatile actors and has become a well-known name after the success of his film 'Kantara'. Movies like 'Kantara', Charlie 777', the 'KGF' franchise and 'Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B', among others have taken Kannada films to new heights. But Rishab Shetty recently claimed that OTT platforms are not willing to enter the Kannada Film industry despite its huge success in the recent years.
Rishab Shetty won the Special Jury Award at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and also attended the press conference. He expressed his disappointment with the OTT platforms for not investing in Kannada films. He said, "Right now, OTT platforms don't want to enter the Kannada film industry. They say, 'We will take time, and not a lot of subscribers are watching Kannada films.' Now, the streaming platforms are also primarily focused on commercial films."

He added, "Cinema has given us so much and in return, we have produced certain genre films. But, we are still waiting for the OTT platforms to open their doors for us." The 'Kantara' star added that he might not be able to produce similar films in future because of the potential failure due to big budget .
"We made Pedro two years ago. Along with this film, there was also another film in the Film Bazaar. Since it was in a different language, it's now on a streaming platform. Our film also received equal recognition from critics all around the world. It participated in many festivals like Busan. Why are there no takers for this film?" he further said.
On the work front, Rishab Shetty has announced the prequel of 'Kantara' titled 'Kantara Chapter 1'. The first instalment was written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. It also starred Kishore, Achuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, Pramod Shetty and Vinay Biddappa.
