Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh was one of the blockbuster movies of 2019. The director of the film Mudassar Aziz recently confirmed the sequel of the romantic comedy drama. The filmmaker promised the upcoming movie would be a laughter riot and also provide a very interesting perspective from a woman’s standpoint. Earlier, several reports claimed that Kartik Aaryan has said yes to the project and is all set to reprise his role in the sequel. The reports also suggested that he also praised the script. However, the details of the cast of the 2019 sequel is yet to be revealed. 

In an interview with Indian Express, Mudassar shared an update about Pati Patni Aur Woh’s sequel and said “That’s going to be my next film as a director. That’s what I am working on right now. We are in the process of finalising several things. Obviously, since I am setting out to take that on as the next installment of the idea of Man Woman, and Her all over again, I can promise it will not be run of the mill. I will provide a very interesting perspective from a woman’s standpoint and a lot of laughs..” 

Without giving information about the final cast, Aziz added “So I am not ready to make any announcements yet. However, I am working towards a sequel, which in itself is self-explanatory. I am working towards a sequel, I don’t believe in franchises. Even when I went from Happy Bhag Jaayegi to Happy Phir Bhag Jaayegi, you could not forget Bagga (played by Jimmy Sheirgill), Afridi (played by Piyush Mishra) and Happy (played by Diana Penty) to begin with. I like making sequels. However, making announcements vis-a-vis who is finalised and who is not finalised, and who the cast is, will be the studio and the producers’ prerogative.”

Pati Patni Aur Woh was the sequel to Sanjeev Kumar’s 1978 film of the same title. In 2019 movie, it starred Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Pandey, Kartik Aaryan, Aparshakti Khurana and Sunny Singh in key roles. It earned Rs 117 crores at the box office. The movie is currently streaming on Prime Video.
