Vishal Bhardwaj, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his intense and gritty narratives, has reportedly finalized Kartik Aaryan as the lead actor for his upcoming project. The film, initially titled 'Sapna Didi' and now undergoing a title change, was originally intended to star the late Irrfan Khan. However, Bhardwaj has adapted the project to focus on the perspective of Hussain Ustara, a fearless don who stood against the underworld's kingpin, Dawood Ibrahim.

This collaboration marks the first time Kartik Aaryan will work with Vishal Bhardwaj, promising an intriguing blend of talent and storytelling. The film is said to delve into the intriguing world of the Mumbai underworld, offering a fresh narrative approach by shifting the focus to Ustara's point of view.

The project, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, is set to commence filming in September 2024. While Kartik Aaryan's role has been confirmed, the leading lady for the role of Ashraf Khan, also known as Sapna Didi, is yet to be finalized. Deepika Padukone was previously attached to star in this role.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan is busy filming the third instalment of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise directed by Anees Bazmee.

Vishal Bhardwaj is renowned for his cinematic adaptations of Shakespeare's works, such as Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider. His recent forays into the digital space with Netflix's Khufiya and SonyLiv's Charlie Chopra & The Mystery Of Solang Valley have been well-received, adding to the anticipation surrounding his upcoming film with Kartik Aaryan.

On the other hand, Kartik Aaryan, fresh from wrapping the first schedule of Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is gearing up for his role in Kabir Khan's Chandu Champion. With a diverse lineup of projects, Kartik is set to showcase his versatility as an actor, making his collaboration with Vishal Bhardwaj all the more intriguing for audiences.
