KBC 16: In a heartwarming Diwali special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, actor Varun Dhawan revealed the name of his newborn daughter, Lara, while chatting with host Amitabh Bachchan. Varun, who appeared on the popular game show alongside directors Raj & DK to promote his upcoming web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, shared this personal milestone during an emotional exchange with the Bollywood legend.
Amitabh Bachchan began by congratulating Varun on his new journey into fatherhood and commented that this Diwali would hold extra meaning with the arrival of a new family member. "This Diwali is very special for you, Varun, as Lakshmi ji has arrived at your home," he said, referencing the auspiciousness of the festival. Expressing his gratitude, Varun folded his hands and confirmed the name he and his wife, Natasha Dalal, chose for their baby girl: Lara.
As the proud father shared the moment with viewers, he also showed a softer side, revealing a lullaby he’d composed just for Lara. Embracing fatherhood wholeheartedly, Varun admitted he is “still learning to connect” with his daughter, cherishing each day as a learning experience.

During the conversation, Varun took the opportunity to ask Amitabh about his own parenting experiences and how he managed his duties as a father to Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan. Amitabh’s advice was simple yet insightful, emphasizing the importance of keeping one’s partner happy. “Just keep your wife happy… If she is happy, everything will go well in life. This is a single formula—Wife is supreme,” he shared, a statement that resonated with Varun and the audience alike.
Lara, a name with roots in multiple cultures, is steeped in meaning. In Latin, it connects to the Roman household gods, symbolizing protection and grace. In Greek mythology, Lara was a nymph and a messenger of the gods. Additionally, in Spanish, it represents “laurel” or “bay tree,” evoking a sense of elegance, strength, and victory. For Varun and Natasha, the name seems to reflect both beauty and resilience—qualities they hope to nurture in their daughter.
Varun and Natasha, who were married in a private ceremony in 2021, welcomed their baby girl on June 3. They had announced their pregnancy earlier this year with a sweet monochromatic picture captioned, “We are pregnant. Need all your blessings and love #myfamilymystrength.” Since then, the new parents have shared small glimpses of their lives with their baby, including a partial picture Varun posted on Father’s Day, which delighted fans.
On the professional front, Varun has an exciting lineup of projects. Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian adaptation of the popular American series, is set for release on November 7 on Amazon Prime Video. In this action-packed series, he stars alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kay Kay Menon, and Sikandar Kher. Adding to the excitement, Varun is also set to appear in Baby John, an action thriller directed by Atlee. This film, scheduled for release on December 25, boasts a star-studded cast, including Keerthy Suresh, Jackie Shroff, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajpal Yadav.
