About Kesari Movie: Cast and Plot
The 2019 historical war drama Kesari, directed by Anurag Singh, starred Akshay Kumar in the titular role as Havildar Ishar Singh, a soldier in the British Indian Army, who leads 21 Sikh soldiers in a fight against 10,000 Pashtun invaders. The period drama is based on the events leading to the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi. Akshay was joined in this mission by Mir Sarwar, Vikram Kochhar, Vivek Saini, Vansh Bhardwaj, and many others. Parineeti Chopra played the female lead opposite Akshay. While Kesari revolved around the Battle of Saragarhi and was a tribute to the 21 Sikh soldiers who fought against the Pashtun tribesmen, Kesari 2 brings the story of lawyer C Sankaran Nair (played by Akshay Kumar), who took up the task of challenging the British Empire after the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The upcoming movie is being helmed by debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi. It also stars R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. It is produced by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective. Kesari: Chapter 2 will be released in theaters on April 18, 2025. The teaser of the movie has already created a buzz on social media and is receiving a positive response.
