South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron was found dead at her Seoul residence on February 16, 2025. Reports indicate that a friend discovered her unconscious and alerted the authorities after she failed to attend a scheduled meeting. The police have confirmed her passing and are investigating the cause of her death. It is being reported that it is likely a case of suicide.

According to a report by EDaily, an acquaintance of Kim Sae Ron revealed that she had recently changed her name to Kim Ah Im. This decision was part of her efforts to start afresh after stepping away from the entertainment industry following the backlash over her 2022 drunk driving incident. The source shared that Kim Sae Ron was considering a career shift and had spoken about her plans to open a café.

This aligns with a TV Daily report from July 2024, which mentioned that she was working as a café manager. Witnesses at the time noted her dedication, managing the counter and overseeing daily operations. Her goal was to establish a coffee shop with acquaintances and eventually make a return to the entertainment industry, which she had put on hold since May 2022.

Kim Sae Ron faced severe criticism following her DUI case in May 2022. She crashed into a transformer and a guard rail in Seoul’s Cheongdam-dong area, causing power outages for nearby businesses. The backlash intensified when it was revealed that she initially refused a breathalyzer test. As a result, her driving license was revoked, and she was fined 20 million KRW.
