When discussing romantic K-dramas, it's impossible to overlook the fact that the Korean entertainment industry has blessed us with numerous other exceptional titles such as Business Proposal, Queen Of Tears, It's Okay to Not Be Okay and Crash Landing on You.
Queen of Tears (Netflix)
Written by Park Ji-eun, co-directed by Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won, the series features Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won in leading roles. The series chronicles the challenges faced by a married couple amidst a crisis. Additionally, it became the third highest-rated series in Korean cable television history in terms of viewership ratings and the second highest in terms of the number of viewers. The series delves into the challenges and revival of love between Hong Hae-in, a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo, the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, during their three-year marriage.
Crash Landing on You (Netflix)
The series penned by Park Ji-eun and directed by Lee Jeong-hyo, features a stellar cast including Hyun Bin, Son Ye-jin, Seo Ji-hye, and Kim Jung-hyun. The storyline follows Yoon Se-ri (played by Son Ye-jin), a successful South Korean businesswoman and heiress of a chaebol. Her life takes an unexpected turn when, while paragliding in Seoul, she is swept off course by a tornado and crash-lands in the North Korean portion of the DMZ. There, she encounters Ri Jeong-hyeok (portrayed by Hyun Bin), a member of the North Korean elite and a captain in the Korean People's Army. Strong Girl Bong-soon (Amazon Prime Video)
It stars Park Bo-young as a woman with superhuman strength named Do Bong-soon. Despite her abilities, she dreams of being delicate and elegant to win the affections of her crush, In Guk-doo (played by Ji Soo), a police officer. Bong-soon becomes a bodyguard for Ahn Min-hyuk (portrayed by Park Hyung-sik), the CEO of a gaming company, Ainsoft. When kidnapping cases occur in her neighborhood, Bong-soon is determined to catch the culprit, especially after her friend is targeted. Business Proposal (Netflix)
The romantic comedy television series adapted from the webtoon of the same name by HaeHwa, illustrated by Narak. Directed by Park Seon-ho and written by Han Seol-hee and Hong Bo-hee, the series stars Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Se-jeong, Kim Min-kyu, and Seol In-ah. The plot revolves around Shin Ha-ri, an employee who agrees to go on a blind date for her friend, only to discover that her date is actually her boss.
Doona (Netflix)
The romantic television series featuring Bae Suzy and Yang Se-jong. Adapted from the Naver webtoon of the same name by Min Song-ah, the series follows Won-jun, a college student who becomes roommates with Doo-na, a former K-pop idol who has retired from her glamorous lifestyle.
Doctor Slump (Netflix)
The series penned by Baek Seon-woo, directed by Oh Hyun-jong, features Park Hyung-sik, Park Shin-hye, Yoon Park, and Gong Seong-ha in leading roles. The series revolves around the hate-turned-love relationship of Nam Ha-neul and Yeo Jeong-woo, both of whom had promising careers but fell into a slump due to different circumstances. Ha-neul and Jeong-woo were high school rivals who harbored animosity towards each other and went their separate ways after graduation. However, when they are compelled to leave their jobs as doctors, they find themselves living together at Ha-neul's house, leading to unexpected developments in their relationship.
