On May 10, SM Entertainment announced that Lucas of NCT and WayV has decided to leave the group. This came as the K-pop star wanted to pursue solo activities. Lucas was a member of WayV, the Chinese division of the South Korean group NCT. He presently participated in the supergroup SuperM.

SM Entertainment announced the same on Twitter and wrote, "Hello, this is SM Entertainment. We notify you regarding the future activities of our artist Lucas. As a result of a serious discussion between Lucas and the agency, it has been decided that Lucas will leave NCT and WayV, and instead pursue solo activities."

"The decision was reached based on the belief that it was the best option to respect the other members and the fans, and thus, we ask for the understanding of all fans who have supported Lucas as a member of NCT and WayV," stated the agency.

They further shared that Lucas will be holding individual activities from now. The agency noted, "We would like to deliver out thanks to the fans for their endless love toward our artists, and ask that you continue to show your attention and support."

With Lucas' exit, WayV will continue as a 6 member group, while NCT has 22 members now- Mark, Xiaojun, Hendery, Renjun, Jeno, Taeyong, Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Kun, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, WinWin, Jungwoo, Haechan, Jaemin, YangYang, Shotaro, Sungchan, Chenle, and Jisung.

Lucas also shared on social media and wrote, "After long consideration, I have decided to leave the group NCT and WayV. I'm really sorry to the members, and thinking about our long friendship, it's too sad. It's been 8 years since I've known the members, and I sincerely thank the members for taking care of me, and I won't forget that feeling. I hope that the members will remember me as Huang Shishi, not Lucas, and I really love the members and will always support them."
