Madhuri Dixit, the evergreen Bollywood icon, has captivated audiences for decades with her remarkable talent and charisma. Currently basking in the success of her latest film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Madhuri took a moment to reflect on a significant decision in her life—stepping away from acting at the height of her career to marry Dr. Shriram Nene.

In a recent interview with Galatta India, Madhuri shared insights into her decision to prioritize her personal life over her booming career in the late 1990s. She explained how she had always valued her passion for acting and dancing but never let stardom define her. “I was very happy because, for me, the paraphernalia was not very important. I love acting, dancing, and everything to do with my profession, but I never thought of myself as a ‘star.’ So, when I decided to get married at the peak of my career, I didn’t feel like I was walking away from anything,” Madhuri revealed.

Madhuri tied the knot with Dr. Shriram Nene, an American-based cardiovascular surgeon, in 1999. Reflecting on her decision, she said, “I just thought I have met the right person for me. This is the man I want to marry. For me, having a house, a husband, a family, and kids was a part of my dream. I love kids, and being a mother was a big part of that dream. So, when people ask if I missed being in the public eye during my hiatus, I say no—I didn’t miss it because I was living my dream.”

After her marriage, Madhuri relocated to the United States, where she embraced a new chapter of her life. The couple welcomed their first son, Arin, in 2003, followed by their second son, Ryan, in 2005. Madhuri eventually returned to the silver screen in 2007 with Aaja Nachle after nearly a decade-long break.
