Maharaja Box Office Collection Day 5 (China): Tamil action-thriller movie Maharaja, starring Vijay Sethupathi, continues its triumphant journey at the Chinese box office. Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan and produced by Passion Studios in association with The Route, the film has captivated audiences worldwide with its gripping narrative and powerful performances. Initially released in India on June 14, 2024, the film hit Chinese theatres on November 29, opening on an unprecedented 40,000 screens, showcasing its massive appeal.

Maharaja tells the story of a middle-aged man, portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, who files an unusual complaint about finding a dustbin named Lakshmi. As the plot unfolds, the complaint takes a darker turn, revealing that Lakshmi is his daughter, who was brutally assaulted. This emotionally charged narrative pits him against powerful adversaries, culminating in a climactic twist that leaves audiences spellbound.

Day 5 Collection in China:

On its fifth day in China, as per renowned industry tracker Ramesh Bala, Maharaja grossed an impressive $430K (Rs 3.62 crore), bringing its total Chinese box office collection to $3.91 million (Rs 33.12 crore). The steady performance at the ticket counters highlights the film's resonance with Chinese audiences, who have embraced its intense storyline and stellar performances.

The movie's global appeal is evident in its worldwide box office figures, which have reached a staggering Rs 135.58 crore. Within India, Maharaja amassed a net collection of Rs 72.41 crore, with a gross total of Rs 81.83 crore, solidifying its status as a blockbuster. Overseas markets have also contributed significantly, with a total overseas collection of Rs 53.75 crore.

Despite a modest production budget of Rs 20 crore, Maharaja has exceeded expectations, proving to be a resounding success. The film's critical acclaim, coupled with its engaging storyline, has contributed to its strong box office performance. After its theatrical run in India, Maharaja found a new audience on Netflix, where it streamed in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. The film remained among the top 10 trending movies in India on the platform for months, extending its reach to a broader audience.
