After Amar Kaushik's Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao created waves at the box office, he is ready to enthrall fans with Vicky Kaushal starrer Mahavatar. Keeping fans on their toes since the announcement of his next, Amar Kaushik shared his inspiration behind the shift from horror comedies to mythology this time.

Amar Kaushik in a conversation with ETimes revealed what made him explore different genres apart from horror comedies. He also shared how his mother inspired him to step into mythological stories.

Amar Kaushik delved into the details of how he gathered various crafts and challenged conventional ideology to bring his vision for Mahavtar to life. He said, “I’ve always wanted to explore different genres, and mythology is something that has fascinated me since childhood. My mother used to tell me mythological stories, and I would imagine how those events might have unfolded. Now that I’m in the film industry, and fortunately, some of my films have been successful, I have the support of my producers. I’ve learned a lot about VFX and storytelling, and this project feels like both a responsibility and a challenge. I think I work best when faced with a challenge.”

Recently, the makers of Mahavatar unveiled the first look from the movie, which builded excitement among fans and moviegoers.

Vicky Kaushal took to his Instagram handle and dropped the motion poster of the upcoming movie. He wrote, “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma!Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik.Coming to cinemas - Christmas 2026!” Mahavatar is slated to hit the silver screens in Christmas 2026.

Aside from this, Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for Chhava. Based on Shivaji Sawant's acclaimed Marathi novel Chhava, the film is helmed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. The movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna.
