Kannur Squad 2 In Making: Mammootty-starrer 'Kannur Squad' has become one of the most talked about and successful Malayalam movies of 2023. The movie received a lot of praise from the audience for its stellar performance by the star cast and its gripping plot. 'Kannur Squad' revolves around a police officer and his team trying to catch a criminal gang in India. In a recent interview, director Roby Varghese Raj talked about the possibility of 'Kannur Squad 2'.
Possibility Of 'Kannur Squad 2':
Roby Varghese Raj revealed that he has plans for 'Kannur Squad 2' but he is not working on the film yet. He has other films in the pipeline and it is not clear if the audience can expect the official announcement immediately.
In an interview with Mathrubhumi, the filmmaker revealed that Mammootty was not the original choice for 'Kannur Squad. “Before we narrated the story to Mammukka, we had approached someone else. That time, we felt that the entire story had a documentary vibe to it and so, we decided to change the second half. Consequently, the movie’s scale also increased. Then we had to have a better performer who had to pull this off,” he said.

On the work front, Mammootty was last seen in 'Kaathal The Core' along with Jyothika, Joji John, Muthumani, Chinnu Chandni, Sudhi Kozhikode, Alex Alister, Kalabhavan Haneef, Anagha Maya Ravi and Josey Sijo. The movie focuses on Mathew Devassy, who decides to enter local panchayat elections but his life takes a different turn when his wife Omana files for divorce and claims that Mathew is a homosexual.

During the promotion of the film, Mammootty said that 'Kaathal The Core' is a revolutionary film. He said, "Its subject is quite revolutionary. However, the narrative unfolds within a small locality, focusing on a single household.”
On the work front, Mammootty will next star in 'Turbo' with Raj B Shetty and Sunil in the important roles. The movie is expected to release in 2024.
