Marco vs Viduthalai 2 Box Office Collection Day 4: The box office battle between Tamil film Viduthalai Part 2 and Malayalam action thriller Marco is heating up, with both movies showcasing their unique storytelling styles and performances. However, as the Day 4 box office collections reveal, Marco seems to be leading the race.

On Monday, Marco earned an impressive Rs 4 crore (India net), bringing its total collection to Rs 18.15 crore in just four days as per Sacnilk. The film, led by Unni Mukundan, has captivated audiences with its gripping action sequences and high-octane drama. Night shows recorded a remarkable 68.85% occupancy, particularly in Kerala cities like Kochi, Kollam and Kottayam.

In contrast, Viduthalai Part 2, directed by Vetrimaaran and starring Vijay Sethupathi, witnessed a dip in its earnings on Day 4 as per Sacnilk. The Tamil crime drama collected Rs 2.15 crore on Monday, taking its four-day total to Rs 24.85 crore. While the movie had a strong start, earning Rs 7.5 crore on its opening day, the Monday drop indicates a slowdown in momentum.

The disparity in theatre occupancy rates further highlights the contrasting trajectories of the two films. Marco maintained strong audience engagement across its morning, afternoon, evening and night shows, with night shows being particularly well-attended. Meanwhile, Viduthalai Part 2 recorded significantly lower occupancy rates on Monday, with Tamil-language occupancy at 17.06% and Telugu-language occupancy at just 11.61%. Chennai led Tamil-language attendance with a 24% occupancy rate while Telugu-speaking regions like Hyderabad saw a modest 13.25%. This is in stark contrast to Marco, which enjoyed robust support from Malayalam-speaking audiences across Kerala.

While Viduthalai Part 2 benefits from its sequel status and critical acclaim for its predecessor, Viduthalai Part 1, the intense competition from Marco highlights the growing appeal of Malayalam cinema. Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco stands out with its compelling storyline centred on Victor, a blind man seeking justice for his friend’s murder. The Tamil film, on the other hand, delves into the gritty conflict between a police constable and a separatist leader, adapted from Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan.
