Mathagam OTT Release Date: The teaser of 'Mathagam' was released a few weeks back, giving a sneak peek into the series' storyline. Positioned as a gangster drama, the series revolves around the clash between law enforcement and a group of notorious gangsters. Directed by Prasath Murugesan, known for 'Queen' and 'Kidari,' the web series features Atharvaa and Manikandan in the lead roles.
Gautham Menon, Nikhila Vimal, Dhivyadharshini, Ilavarasu, and several others portray significant roles in the series that explores the intricate connections between the police and gangsters in Chennai. The show follows a group of dedicated cops who embark on a mission to apprehend a few notorious gangsters, shaping the remainder of the plot.
In the teaser of 'Mathagam,' Atharvaa Murali's voiceover sets the tone, highlighting the unpredictability of one night that can lead people astray. He portrays a cop in the series. The teaser showcases intense encounters between the police and gangsters, with a voiceover emphasising, "It will remove hope from our hands and give us doubts."
Manikandan's character is introduced with a scene where he is seen stabbing a person. The teaser also provided a sneak peek at the characters played by director Gautham Vasudev Menon, renowned television anchor Dhivya Dharshini, Nikhila Vimal, and other cast members. The teaser concludes with a voiceover declaring, "This night is long," adding to the mystery surrounding the series.
The official trailer, released by the team, provides further glimpses of the thrilling storyline. Edwin Sakay and Praveen Antony have taken charge of cinematography and editing, respectively. Dhilip Subbarayan has expertly crafted the action sequences and they are expected to be a standout feature of the project.
Darbuka Siva, who made his directorial debut with 'Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee' last year, has provided the music for 'Mathagam.' The series will be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali.
'Mathagam' is all set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on August 18. This marks Atharvaa's first direct-to-OTT release on the platform, while Manikandan's previous film, 'Good Night', had also released on Hotstar recently. For Nikhila Vimal, this is her second release of the year after the successful movie 'Por Thozhil.'
Atharvaa has three projects – 'Thanal,' 'Address,' and 'Nirangal Moondru' - lined up, while Manikandan recently signed an untitled film alongside Kanna Ravi and Sri Gouri Priya.
