About Meiyazhagan

Meiyazhagan tells the poignant story of a middle-aged man who returns to his hometown after more than twenty years away, a place he had long abandoned. This return profoundly transforms his life. The film stars Karthik Sivakumar as Meiyazhagan, alongside a talented ensemble that includes Arvind Swamy as Arunmozhi Varman 'Arul,' Sri Divya as Nandini, and Saran Shakthi as a younger version of Arunmozhi. Other notable cast members include Rajkiran, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Karunakaran, Sriranjini, Ilavarasu, and V. Jayaprakash.

Produced with a budget of ₹35 crore, the film is categorised as a medium-budget film within Tamil cinema. It generated considerable buzz prior to its release, thanks in part to its impressive cast and the reputation of director C. Prem Kumar, known for his acclaimed film 96.

The narrative centers on Arunmozhi Varman, who, along with his family, is forced to leave their home in Needamangalam, Thanjavur, after a series of misfortunes leads to the loss of their house. Years later, he returns to his village for a wedding, embarking on a bittersweet journey of rediscovery. During his visit, he encounters a relative with an infectious, childlike smile, which stirs up memories and emotions he thought he had buried. This meeting prompts Arunmozhi to confront his past, exploring themes of nostalgia, family ties, and the complexities of homecoming. Through its rich storytelling and strong performances, Meiyazhagan resonates with audiences, capturing the essence of returning to one's roots and the memories that shape our lives.
