Mirzapur 3: Divyendu Sharma, who portrayed the character of Munna Tripathi aka 'Munna Bhaiya' in the popular Amazon Prime Video series 'Mirzapur', has confirmed that he will not be returning for the third season of the show. In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, Divyendu revealed that he decided to step away from the series because the role was affecting him deeply.
Speaking about his decision, Divyendu said, “When I was in character, it was affecting my personality a lot. We shouldn’t over-romanticise going too deep into a character, because it is not easy. At times, it used to get really dark for me. I felt suffocated. It’s so tricky that you don’t even realise that you are in that zone. It’s only when you come out of it do you realise how dark it was.”
Despite his departure, fans can still look forward to the return of other key cast members, including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Shweta Tripathi, who will reprise their roles in the upcoming season. The new season of 'Mirzapur' is expected to see Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Golu (Shweta Tripathi) facing off against a new adversary as they vie for control of the criminal empire.

Set in the heartland of India, 'Mirzapur' follows the story of the iron-fisted Akhandanand Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi), a millionaire carpet exporter and mafia don, and his son Munna, who is hungry for power. The series takes a dark turn when a wedding procession leads to a confrontation between the Tripathi family and the Pandit family, consisting of an upstanding lawyer, Ramakant Pandit, and his sons, Guddu and Bablu.
The first two seasons of 'Mirzapur' were shot across various locations in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow and Jaunpur, and have garnered a massive following for its gritty storytelling and intense performances. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release date of the third season, hoping for more of the gripping drama and suspense that has made 'Mirzapur' a hit series.
