Mirzapur: The Film Update: At the recently held Screen Live event, the talented duo Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha took to the stage to discuss their highly anticipated debut production venture, Girls Will Be Girls. In addition to sharing exciting insights about their upcoming project, the couple also delved into details about the much-awaited Mirzapur: The Film. In a thrilling revelation, Ali disclosed that the movie will feature the return of some of the most beloved characters from the series, including the infamous Munna Bhaiyaa and Compounder.
While these characters met their demise in the series, Ali explained that the film will cleverly revisit the origins of the story, allowing for their return. This clever narrative twist has undoubtedly piqued the interest of fans, who are eagerly awaiting the release of Mirzapur: The Film.
According to a report in Indian Express, Ali Fazal said, “The film will feature not just me, but also Divyenndu, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee. It’s like going back to the beginning and retelling the story. Once you see me cutting my hair and bulking up, you’ll know I’m back on the sets of Mirzapur.”
Richa Chadha said, “Mirzapur was born from the belly of Gangs of Wasseypur. It’s a cult film now, but when we were making it, we didn’t realise it would become such a phenomenon.”
Munna aka Divyendu Sharma’s Comeback Confirmed
In a clever narrative move, the upcoming movie, Mirzapur: The Film, promises to revisit earlier storylines, thereby allowing the return of some of the most beloved characters from the series. Among those set to make a comeback are fan-favorites Munna Bhaiyaa and Compounder, whose story arcs had seemingly concluded in the series. By retelling these earlier stories, the film will cleverly reintegrate these iconic characters, giving fans another chance to engage with them. This bold storytelling decision is sure to delight audiences, who have been eagerly awaiting the return of these memorable characters.
During the event, Shweta Tripathi said, “From what I understand, because Munna played by Divyendu) is a part of it, it has to do something with season one. We can’t be bringing back a character to life after he dies in the last season (season 2). It is based in a time when Munna is still alive and I think Sweety (played by Shriya Pilgaonkar) is also still alive. But we have not got a call yet from Excel (the makers of Mirzapur) blocking our dates. So we all are waiting for it. But one thing I know is that it is going to be power-packed and it’s going to have the swag.”
“It is going to be the beast of the heartland and I cannot wait to read the script because Puneet Krishna, the writer of the first and the second season of Mirzapur, he is one of my favourite writers… I can’t wait to see what happens in the film. It is going to be a challenge because these are characters who don’t need an introduction, so I am very curious and excited to see what will happen with these characters in this world (of Mirzapur),” she added.
