Mistry, an official adaptation of the popular American series Monk, is set to release on OTT. The teaser of the comedy series is out, and fans of Monk may experience a strong sense of déjà vu as Ram Kapoor's character mirrors many of the iconic traits of Adrian Monk, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and quirky behaviour. From counting objects obsessively to avoiding handshakes and perching awkwardly in an undersized chair, Kapoor's character promises to bring a fresh take to the beloved character.

Mistry’s teaser was unveiled by JioHotstar today, on May 27, 2025. The teaser features Ram Kapoor as Armaan Mistry, the Indian counterpart to Tony Shalhoub's iconic character, Adrian Monk. "Chaotic to some. An enigma to all. When it comes to unsolved mysteries, no man better than Mistry! Hotstar Specials: Mistry Streaming June 27 only on JioHotstar. #MistryOnJioHotstar (sic)," read the caption shared by JioHotstar's official X account.

Joining Ram Kapoor is actor Mona Singh as ACP Sehmat Siddiqui, along with Shikha Talsania and Kshitish Date in pivotal roles. Mistry is directed by Rishab Seth and produced by Banijay Asia in collaboration with Universal International Studios. "Armaan Mistry is a character unlike any I’ve played before. The whole experience of shooting Mistry was so immersive - I have deep dived into this character and understood his quirks, his brilliance and his vulnerabilities. It is a character very close to my heart and I am thrilled with how it has come out. I cannot wait for the audiences and my fans to see me as Mistry on JioHotstar,” said Ram Kapoor in a statement.

About American Series Monk

Monk, the original series, ran on the USA Network from 2002 to 2009 and starred Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk, a genius detective with many phobias. Working for the San Francisco Police Department, he solves the unsolvable with the help of his assistants. In 2023, Shalhoub reprised the character in a Peacock+ film, Mr Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie. Mistry promises to explore not just the mystery-of-the-week format but also the emotional complexity of a man battling OCD while solving crimes.

Mistry is set to premiere on JioHotstar on June 27, 2025, and promises to bring a fresh take to the beloved character of Adrian Monk. With Ram Kapoor's immersive performance and a talented cast, the series is expected to be a thrilling ride.
