Moon Moon Sen's husband Bharat Dev Varma died at the age of 83 on November 19. He took his last breath at his Kolkata residence today. Bharat Dev Varma was a member of the former royal family in Tripura. His mother Ila Devi was the princess from Cooch Behar and was the elder sister of Maharani of Jaipur, Gayatri Devi. Coming back to his death news, some reports suggest that he was unwell today after which an ambulance was called but he died before its arrival. The devasting news has shocked the film industry.  

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mourned the death of Bharat Dev Varma. He took X, “Saddened by the demise of Bharat Dev Varma, the husband of filmstar Moon Moon Sen, and himself a great well-wisher of mine. He was indeed very loving and affectionate to me and I shall always treasure his memories. He truly considered me as part of his family and his demise is a great loss for me.” 

“After getting the news today morning, I visited their Ballygunge residence, where their daughter Riya was present. Moon Moon and Raima are coming from Delhi. I paid my respect to the departed and condolences to the family,” she added. 

Moon Moon Sen and Bharat Dev Varma tied knot in 1978. The veteran Bengali actress is the daughter of Suchitra Sen and Dibanath Sen. Moon Moon and Bharat Dev have two daughters who are also part of the film industry-Raima Sen and Riya Sen. Moon Moon made her acting debut with Andar Baahar in 1984. She has worked in 60 movies and 40 television series. 

Moon Moon is known for her work in Byabodhan, Andar Baahar, Sirivennela, Sheesha, Amar Kantak, Nil Nirjane, Bandhabi, Bow Barracks Forever and Bahaar Aane Tak to name a few. The actress last appeared in the 2019 Bengali movie Bhobishyoter Bhoot. The movie features Rachel White, Debolina Dutta, Swastika Mukherjee, Kanchan Mullick, Kaushik Sen and Sabyasachi Chakraborty in key roles.
