Mrunal Thakur reacted to her cameo in the highly anticipated movie of the year Kalki 2898 AD. Nag Ashwin’s directorial showcased Mrunal as a pregnant woman. The science-fiction-action film also featured Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, and Ram Gopal Varma in cameo roles. The actress shared that she has worked with the producers Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt in Sita Ramam. She stated that she instantly said yes to film without giving much thought to it.
Mrunal said, “When I was approached for ‘Kalki,’ I didn’t even take a moment to say yes. I have immense faith in producers Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka. Our successful collaboration in ‘Sita Ramam’ made this an easy decision. And being part of this mammoth of a project and this absolute visionary filmmaking was something I knew I had to be part of.”
Kalki 2898 AD starred Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Prabhas as Bhairava, Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin, Deepika Padukone as Sumathi, Disha Patani as Roxie, Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas and Keerthy Suresh as Bujji. It showcased Tamil actor Krishnakumar also known as KK in the role of Lord Krishna and actor Arjun Das lent his voice to the character.
The movie was released in theatres on the 27th of June in multiple languages. Kalki 2898 AD was made on a budget of Rs 600 Crore. Nag Ashwin’s directorial received positive reviews mostly for the second half and was criticised for the first half. According to reports, two popular OTT platforms have acquired digital streaming rights of Kalki 2898 AD. As per Filmibeat, Netflix secured the Hindi version of the Prabhas starrer and Amazon Prime Video purchased the rights for the southern languages.
Apart from Kalki 2898 AD, Mrunal Thakur was last seen in The Family Star. The movie starred Vijay Deverakonda, Divyansha Kaushik, Vasuki Anand and Marissa Rose Gordon in prominent roles. The Telugu language movie is currently streaming on Prime Video.
