Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna has faced significant criticism and trolling on social media following a video showing him pushing away actress Anjali during 'Gangs of Godavari' event went viral. The film, directed by Krishna Chaitanya features Anjali and Neha Shetty in lead roles along with Vishwak Sen. The pre-release event of the film took place on May 28, with Balakrishna serving as the chief guest.

What caught attention was a video of him pushing Anjali away on stage after she couldn't hear him. Anjali's co-star Neha appeared visibly shocked by Balakrishna's gesture, while the former herself took it in good stride, laughing it off. Although the exact exchange between the veteran actor and Anjali before the incident remains unclear, the shocking video seems to disappoint fans. They have expressed extreme displeasure with Balakrishna, labeling his actions as 'disrespectful' and 'bad' towards women. A user wrote, "Man, this is straight up sad. I try my best to separate the art from the artist, but in this guy's case, it's damn near impossible. Poor woman could've fallen down, too."

Another added, "It’s been known that balakrishna is a rude, drunken pervert. Yet these idiots hype him up by calling him ballayya and shit." A third comment read, "This scumbag deserves to be spat on publicly. I'm sorry but naku osthunna kopaniki I want to kill him with my bare hands for the things he keeps doing. What a waste of space on earth. Also, look how only the other woman there tried to even help Anjali, but none of the men even blinked an eye. Some pieces of shit in the back were even laughing. Like, how can you be so shameless? These people deserve nothing less than a korada treatment."

During the same event, Balakrishna expressed his desire for his son, aspiring actor Mokshagna, not to follow in his footsteps. "I don't want him to be inspired by me, although my fans would be upset with my decision," he stated, adding, "Mokshagna will be making his debut very soon, and it will be a much-awaited film. I'll be behind him like a rock, but I wish he treks his own path."

"I want my son to take a cue from new-generation actors," stated Balakrishna. Despite this, he asserted his ability to compete with younger generation heroes like Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Adivi Sesh, stating, "I can match strides with them and give them a tough fight. I am in no mood to give up."
