Legendary Bollywood couple Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are celebrating their 51st anniversary on 3rd June. The couple has been receiving good wishes from across the country on this occasion. Their granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda shared a throwback picture of her grandparents on Instagram stories and wrote, “51 years, Happy anniversary.”

Remembering a flashback from the past, Bachchan once revealed the reason behind marrying Jaya Bachchan. During the 52nd Filmfare Awards, he dedicated his Lifetime Achievement Award to his wife and revealed the love story to the audience. He said, “She did her first film called Guddi. I was there as her leading man, momentarily. Ten days into the shooting, I was asked to leave and she continued (the movie) with someone else. Subsequently, I worked in several films with her. As my leading lady, I have to say that she has been the one heroine that I have worked with as my leading lady in the maximum number of films. She became the girl next door.. this bubbly, energetic, full of life... away from conventional leading ladies. That's when I decided I need to marry her.”

For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan worked in several movies like Silsila, Chupke Chupke, Mili, Abhimaan, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to name a few.

Last year, daughter Shweta Bachchan shared the secret behind their happy and long marriage on their 50th anniversary. She posted a beautiful picture of her parents on Instagram and wrote, “Happy 50th parents ~ now you're "Golden" once on being asked what the secret to a long marriage is, my mother answered - love, and I think my fathers was - the wife is always right. That's the long & short of it !!”

On the work front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. While Amitabh Bachchan will be next seen in Nag Ashwin’s Sci-fiction action film Kalki 2898 AD. It features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Dulquer Salmaan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and Rana Daggubati in key roles. The movie is slated to release in theatres on 27th June.
