According to a report by Soompi, filming for the next season of Squid Game is set to commence in July. Last year, the acclaimed Korean series had achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first non-English-language show to receive a nomination for Best Drama at the Emmy Awards.
However, the award ultimately went to the HBO series Succession. Notably, Lee Jung-Jae made history at the event by becoming the first Asian actor to win an Emmy, securing the accolade for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Additionally, Lee You-mi became the first Korean female actor to win the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her noteworthy performance in the show.
Squid Game also won in three other categories at the Emmy Awards. The show was honoured with awards for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, Outstanding Stunt Performance, and Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More). Furthermore, Hwang Dong-hyuk received an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
