5 Memorable Performances Of Satish Shah: Popular Bollywood and Television actor Satish Shah, known for his comic roles, died at the age of 74. As per reports, the actor was suffering from kidney-related complications for quite some time. The exact reason for his death is unknown. The industry has been mourning his death as it is the end of a golden era. Over his five decades of his career, the actor performed in over 250 movies and shows. Some of them are considered iconic and cult. Remembering some of his performances, here are some movies and shows that gave him due credit.

Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai (JioHotstar)

The show is based on the lives of a Gujarati wealthy family, who live in South Mumbai. It focuses on their day-to-day life. The cult comedy show features Satish Shah as Indravadan Sarabhai, Ratna Pathak Shah as Maya Mazumdar Sarabhai, Sumeet Raghavan as Dr. Sahil Sarabhai, Rupali Ganguly as Manisha and Rajesh Kumar as Rosesh Sarabhai. The first season of the sitcom aired on STAR One from 1 November 2004 to 16 April 2006. The second part is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 15 May to 17 July 2017.

 

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (JioHotstar)

The 1983 film focuses on two photographers who have been hired by a newspaper editor to expose the scandalous activities of the wealthy. They discover the corruption of a builder and accidentally photograph a murder. The movie stars Naseeruddin Shah as Vinod Chopra, Ravi Baswani as Sudhir Mishra, Om Puri as Ahuja, a corrupt contractor, Pankaj Kapur as Tarneja, a corrupt contractor who murders D'Mello, Satish Shah as D'Mello, Municipal Commissioner.

Hum Saath - Saath Hain (Zee5)

The family drama movie is about a couple who have three sons, Vivek, Prem and Vinod, and a daughter, Sangeeta. They are part of a joint family whose close family bonds are challenged by misunderstandings. The film stars Salman Khan as Prem, Karisma Kapoor as Sapna, Saif Ali Khan as Vinod, Tabu as Sadhna, Sonali Bendre as Doctor Preeti, Mohnish Bahl as Vivek, Neelam as Sangeetha, Alok Nath as Ramkishan, Reema Lagoo as Mamta and Satish Shah as Pritam. The blockbuster movie was released in theatres in 1999.

 

Jaan Pechaan (YouTube)

The comedy movie is about Jagmohan (Utpal Dutt), who wants his daughters to get married. His best friend suggests his son Raja (Shekar Suman) could be the best suitor for one of Jagmohan’s daughters. He asks Raja to go and find out which one of the two girls he would like to get married with. But Raja asks his servant and confidante, Abdul Malik (Satish Shah), to switch places with him, and both visit Jagmohan's home to see the girls, not knowing that their prank will result in a grave accusation levelled at Abdul Malik. The filmwas released in theatres in 1991.

Haatim Tai (YouTube)

As per the official premise on IMDB, the movie is about Hatim Tai, a legendary chief of a small district. He is known for his generosity, wisdom and courage. Hatim learns that one of the local girls in his town has a curse put on her - whoever marries her, the husband will die. To break this curse, Hatim agrees to take part in 7 quests. All 7 quests are dangerous but have a moral. If he completes all 7, then he will also release the fairy who has turned into a stone. Hatim and his friend (Satish Shah) embark on a fun but dangerous quest to break the curse once and for all. The film stars Jeetendra Hatim al Tai, Sangeeta Bijlani as Pari Banu, Sonu Walia as Saira, and Satish Shah as Nazrul. It was released in theatres in 1990.
