53rd International Emmys took place in New York City on Monday evening, November 24, 2025. Diljit Dosanjh cemented his reputation as a style icon at the Emmys this year by showing up in a shiny white blazer and black pants. Underneath, he wore a clean white shirt, a bow tie, and a nicely tied turban. His Punjabi charm and global flair were combined with the ensemble. Amar Singh Chamkila director Imtiaz Ali too arrived in style at the Emmys. He wore an all-black tuxedo while maintaining his clean-shaven appearance and natural hairstyle. Amar Singh Chamkila received two esteemed nominations for the Emmys this year. The biopic received a nomination for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series, while Diljit Dosanjh received Best Actor nomination.

The 53rd International Emmy Awards Gala winded up the evening without any honours for the critically acclaimed film Amar Singh Chamkila, which depicted the life of a killed Punjabi folk hero. The Netflix India production lost both categories, despite receiving two significant nominations.

About Amar Singh Chamkila

The official biopic of the late Punjabi singing sensation, who was shot and killed in the 1980s, is available on Netflix as Amar Singh Chamkila. Amarjot Kaur, his wife and collaborator, was portrayed by Parineeti Chopra, while Diljit Dosanjh played the film's title role to great acclaim. AR Rahman's soundtrack, the film's performances, and the film's directing were all commended.

The country takes joy in the fact that it was the only Indian film nominated for this year's International Emmys, viewing it as evidence of the global interest in authentic, locally relevant Indian narratives.
