Aamir Khan's upcoming Sitaare Zameen Parhas created waves for significant reasons, one of which is his pairing with Genelia Deshmukh. He will be seen playing the role of her husband in the Hindi adaptation of the Spanish hit movie Champions, starring Woody Harrelson. Aamir recently faced questions about the age gap between him and his co-star, which shocked everyone, as it was he who cast Genelia back in 2008, opposite his nephew Imran Khan in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He chose to react to this news in his humorous style.

Aamir Khan, in a recent interview with The Indian Express, addressed this ironic situation and discussed sharing screen space with Genelia, almost 17 years after he introduced her to Hindi cinema.

He said, "Ya, I know. That thought did come to me," he says in a recent interview with Indian Express. “But that was a long time ago. And ab Imran bhi kaafi meri age ka ho gaya hai."

Aamir went on to state that age is no longer a barrier for actors, as technology and audience perceptions have broken all the age gap taboos.

He added, "We have the advantage of VFX now. Earlier, if I had to play an 18-year-old, I had to rely on prosthetics — like Anil Kapoor did in Eeshwar (1989), when he played an 80-year-old. Today, you can look 80 or 40 or 20 on screen with seamless visual effects. So age is no longer a barrier for actors."
