Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh starrer much-awaited movie Sitaare Zameen Par is set to hit the silver screens on the 20th of this month. Fans are quite excited about the film, seeing the trailer, songs, posters and also especially because it is the sequel to Hit 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par. The promotions are in full swing for Sitaare Zameen Par. Ahead of the much-awaited release, an unknown fact came across that Genelia’s name was suggested by Aamir as the female lead of the film. This is the first time Aamir and Genelia will be seen opposite each other onscreen.
In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, the director of the film, RS Prasanna shared that it was Aamir who suggested the name of Genelia Deshmukh for the female lead in Sitaare Zameen Par. When both Aamir and Prasanna were discussing names, the actor came up with Deshmukh’s name. The superstar told the filmmaker that Ritesh Deshmukh is his good friend and he recently met Ritesh and Genelia. At their meeting, Genelia expressed her desire to come back into the Hindi film industry.
RS Prasanna stated that the character sketch of the heroine in the movie is very beautiful. He compared the female lead of Sitaare Zameen Par to his previous movie Shubh Mangal Savdhaan. He said, “This character was again today's Indian woman with that mix of vulnerability and strength.”
The filmmaker recalled saying, “I said sir ye to bahut interesting hai, kyuki aap jab movie dekhoge to usme lot of nuances hai and it's a very tough role to play, which she has done very well. I think Genelia ke andar itna life hai itna positivity hai itna joy hai she lights up the screen. It was a delight working with her.”
Sitaare Zameen Par also features Dolly Ahluwalia, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar in significant roles. The movie is a remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018). The project has been backed by Aamir Khan, Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka.
