Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari, known for her roles in movies and web series like Padmaavat, Heeramandi, and Bhoomi, among others, has spoken out about the persistent challenges women face in the entertainment industry. Despite the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama web series Heeramandi, Aditi revealed that she is still waiting to sign a new movie or show. Aditi Rao Hydari's performance in Heeramandi was widely praised, with the show featuring an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, and others. 

Aditi Rao Hydari, in a recent chat with Lilly Singh, highlighted the disparity between the acclaim she received for her performance and the lack of new work opportunities. Aditi, despite the Heeramandi show's success, said, "For example, after Heeramandi, it was wonderful. I got so much love, so much appreciation. So much everything. Have I signed my next show or film? No. I haven’t. I’m still waiting."

Lilly Singh observed that when stories centred on women succeed, they are often treated as exceptions rather than the norm. Aditi completely agreed with that and said, "It is, yes. You are absolutely correct." She added, "I got a lot from it. But yeah, I am still waiting."

When Lilly asked Aditi if she believes it will be easier to create shows like Heeramandi again with that kind of budget, now that it’s a success, Aditi replied, "No, I don’t think so. I hope so. I hope there will be a change." She said that she hopes the power of storytelling takes centre stage, regardless of the gender focus. "Women are equal participants in life, and thus deserve equal space in stories and on screen," she added. Meanwhile, Aditi has reiterated her previous statement about the lack of work opportunities, a sentiment she also shared with Farah Khan on YouTube while discussing the impact of the Heeramandi web series.

On the work front, Aditi Rao Hydari will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming web series O Saathi Re alongside Avinash Tiwary. She also has Parivarik ManuRanjan, a family entertainer, in the pipeline. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi.
