Deepika Padukone's exit from Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 has been one of the biggest shocks for her fans as well as the filmmaker. According to latest reports, Priyanka Chopra is rumoured to replace Deepika Padukone in Kalki 2. Other actresses in the mix include Alia Bhatt, Sai Pallavi and Anushka Shetty. The makers are reportedly looking for someone who can match Prabhas' star power and elevate the sequel.
Earlier, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD announced Deepika Padukone's exit from Kalki film franchise. "This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works," the announcement read.
A report by Bollywood Hungama later claimed that Deepika Padukone was dropped from Kalki 2 after she allegedly demanded a 25 per cent fee hike and an 8-hour work shift. The makers reportedly tried to negotiate, but she did not agree to the revised terms.

Deepika also defended her 8-hour work shift. In a conversation with CNBC TV18, she said, "I have done this at many levels; this is not new to me. I think, even as far as pay is concerned, I have had to deal with whatever comes with it. I don’t even know what to call it, but I am someone who has always fought my battles silently. And for some strange reason, sometimes they become public which is not the way I know and not the way I’ve been brought up. But yes, to fight my battles silently and in a dignified way is the way I know."
Kalki 2, the sequel to the highly successful film Kalki 2898 AD, is officially confirmed and currently in pre-production, with filming scheduled to begin in late 2025. A release is anticipated for summer 2026.
