Although Homebound missed out on securing a nomination at the upcoming Academy Awards, the moment was marked by gratitude and pride rather than disappointment. The film’s journey on the global stage was celebrated by its makers, with producer Karan Johar and director Neeraj Ghaywan reflecting on the effort, collaboration and creative passion that shaped the project and brought it international recognition.

Soon after the Academy announced the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards, Karan Johar took to social media to share his thoughts on Homebound. Posting a series of stills from the film on his Instagram Stories, the filmmaker expressed admiration for Neeraj Ghaywan’s vision and commitment to storytelling.

Emphasising his pride in being associated with the project, Karan praised the director’s artistic voice and the film’s meaningful journey, writing, "Proud!!! Love you @neeraj.ghaywan for allowing us to bask in your light!"

Acknowledging Johar’s constant encouragement, Ghaywan wrote, "Thank you @karanjohar! You have been an absolute rock. Couldn’t have come this far without you. Love you."

About Homebound: Homebound is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language drama directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and co-written by Ghaywan and Sumit Roy. The film boasts an impressive creative backing, with legendary American filmmaker Martin Scorsese serving as its executive producer. Produced by Dharma Productions, Homebound is inspired by a 2020 New York Times article written by journalist Basharat Peer.
