Deepika Padukone’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit has sparked discussions online. If the reports are to be believed, Deepika requested to work eight hours a day, which didn’t sit well with the filmmaker. Now, Ajay Devgn and Kajol have reacted to the ongoing debate during the trailer launch of Maa. “Most honest filmmakers will not have problems with it,” said Ajay.
According to News18, Ajay Devgn said during the trailer launch, “It’s not that it’s not going down well with people. Most honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hour shifts.” Kajol said, “I love the fact that you can work less.” “It’s person to person, and I feel most of the industry understands this,” said Ajay.
Deepika Padukone was rumoured to be the leading lady in the film, but recently Vanga announced Triptii Dimri to play the role. Reports claimed that Deepika wanted a high remuneration and an 8-hour workday. Later, the filmmaker also took an indirect dig at the actress on his social media handle. However, Deepika remains unbothered by the whole controversy.
Vanga had written on X, ““When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are…”
“Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it,” he further explained.

For the unversed, Triptii Dimri has been cast instead, with a significantly lower fee of Rs 4 crore. Triptii has previously worked with the director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, on the film Animal. There's no official confirmation on the fee figures yet.
