Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, the much-talked-about biopic of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has finally secured a release date after facing multiple hurdles. Featuring Anant Joshi in the lead role, the film is inspired by Shantanu Gupta’s bestselling book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. Over the past few months, the movie had been caught in a legal tussle after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanded several edits. However, the Bombay High Court recently ruled in favour of the filmmakers, directing the CBFC to grant certification for its theatrical release.

Following the court’s decision, the makers of Ajey have now locked in the film’s release. Taking to Instagram, the production team revealed a new poster featuring Anant Joshi in character, along with other members of the cast. They also confirmed that the film will release in cinemas on 19 September. The caption on the official announcement read, “Jung lambi thi par irada lohe sa pakka tha, ab usey anjaam tak pahunchaane ka samay aa gaya hai! After a hard-fought battle, the victory is finally ours to celebrate. #AjeyTheUntoldStoryOfAYogi is now releasing in cinemas on 19th September.”

Meanwhile, the legal battle began when the CBFC initially demanded 29 cuts in the film. Later, this number was reduced to 21 cuts, but the filmmakers argued that such edits were unnecessary. Taking the matter to court, Samrat Cinematics India Pvt. Ltd. sought justice. To settle the dispute, the Bombay High Court bench personally viewed the film over the weekend. After their review, the judges concluded that the movie did not require further cuts. Their verdict stated, “We saw the film in its context, and we don’t see anything that needs to be re-edited. We stopped at every point you mentioned. We have taken notes on everything. We do not find anything unpleasant.”
