There has been a lot of conversation in Bollywood about older male actors romancing younger actresses in the movie. Some of the most recent age-gap love stories in Bollywood films include Ranveer Singh (40) and Sara Arjun (20), Salman Khan (60) and Rashmika Mandanna (29), and many more. Akshay Kumar (58, who will next appear in Bhooth Bangla opposite 32-year-old Wamiqa Gabbi, has now weighed in on the whole debate.

Akshay Kumar said, "Toh kya hua? Humne pehle dekha nahi hai kya kabhi? It happens in Hollywood as well. Sometimes, it's a requirement of the script. So many people get married to partners older or younger to them."

Akshay Kumar shared, "I first met Wamiqa when we were shooting for Bhooth Bangla. She works very differently. She keeps reading her scenes and rehearsing for them. She gets very serious. Tabu is more serious than her. Vidya Balan, who I'm working with in Anees Bazmee ji's film, on the other hand, believes in being a free actor."

Priyadarshan On Age Gap Debate In Bollywood

Bhooth Bangla director Priyadarshan also shared his two cents on the age-gap debate in Bollywood, saying that his casting choices are guided by how convincing a pair feels on screen rather than their real-life age difference. "There's something that people like MGR and NTR used to say... that there's a big difference between chronological age and screen age. An actor's screen age may not be his real age, but people accept you for your screen age too. I don't see any issue there."

The director clarified that he never felt a mismatch when working with actors like Tabu and Akshay Kumar, and neither do viewers. He claimed that this is because the characters' noticeable screen age—rather than their real ages—is what gives them authenticity.

About Bhooth Bangla

The Bhooth Bangla preview included a number of well-known characters in a traditional Priyadarshan comedy. Leading the group with vintage vigour was Akshay Kumar. There are clever one-liners, brief appearances by Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi, and more. The Vadhusur curse was first mentioned in the opening scene of Mangalpuri by Asrani, who passed away in October of last year. Of course, a ghost was also present in the storyline. Bhooth Bangla, which also stars Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, is scheduled to open in theatres on April 10.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have reunited for Bhooth Bangla after 14 years break. It's interesting to note that their upcoming horror comedy has a nostalgic connection to Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), given that both films were shot at the Chomu Palace in Jaipur.
